Kay Van Wey has received many honors and accolades for her work and has been featured many times in the local and national media. Her vast experience in personal injury litigation, combined with her tremendous work ethic and leadership skills, have culminated in her leading an "A" team of committed professionals who help her carry out her mission of helping injury victims. Kay grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Her mother was a ballet teacher and small business owner of her own ballet studio. Kay grew up with the discipline of ballet, but her ballet career was cut short when she stopped sprouting up at the height of 5 feet tall. Her father was quite a character, known as "The Thrifty Dutchman", and appearing in his own corny television commericials that advertised his small, General Motors car dealership. From a young age, Kay showed signs leadership. She was the first female president of her high school in the bicentiennial year of 1976. She later attended the University of Oklahoma on a President's Leadership Scholarship during the "Barry Switzer" years. Kay remains an avid Boomer Sooner fan. Upon graduation from law school Kay worked in Washington, D.C. for a Texas Congressman, but returned to her hometown of Lawton, Oklahoma when a position for Assistant District Attorney became available. As a young prosecutor, Kay gained valuable courtroom experience. She still remembers her parents sitting in the courtroom watching her try her very first cases. Kay later built upon the fundamentals she learned as a prosecutor as she tried numerous civil and criminal cases in Oklahoma. Upon reaching the ripe old age of 29, Kay was offered a judicial appointment, but decided that she wanted to further her career by moving to Dallas, where she has specialized in personal injury litigation for the past 25 years.

1.I started my law firm because of a sleeping baby. Literally. When my oldest daughter was 10 months old (she is now a freshman in college), I realized one day that I had not seen her with her eyes open in nearly a week. Working in Boston while living in the suburbs, I left the house at 6AM and often didn’t get home until 8PM or later. I was sitting on a commuter train when I should have been home, feeding her, reading to her, and putting her to bed. I made a decision on the spot to open my own firm, and traded an hour and a half commute in for a mile and a half commute. Three years later, my younger daughter was born, and I never missed a single day of seeing her with her eyes open. 2. Family has always been very important to me. I grew up on a farm in Quincy, Washington. Growing up, I loved competition and I found an outlet for that in sports. I was never a great athlete, but for everyone who knows me, I love to win—and I hate to lose! As I grew older, my competitive nature extended to school and then my career. After graduating from Central Washington University and then Cornell Law School, I was recruited by big law firms to work for big businesses. For 17 years I worked in a firm with more than 1500 attorneys in offices around the world. I was a high-stakes litigator, and I sued big businesses on behalf of other big businesses so that shareholders could have more profit. I was really good at it.
