Question 1: A law firm should not offer legal services in more than one practice area.
Answer 1: I answered true to this question and I’m sticking by my answer…with one caveat. A lawyer should only be responsible for one practice area. Especially at the beginning of a law firm, the narrower one can focus attention to establish expertise and brand platform and recognition, the better. It may be counter-intuitive but narrowing your focus makes it easier to grow your business faster.

Question 2: Your law firm’s geographical location is an important factor when establishing your attorney’s fees.
Answer 2: True. While not the sole factor, the rates charged by attorneys of similar experience and skill in a given geographic market (i.e., market rates), are an important factor when an attorney establishes his or her rates. How the attorney utilizes this factor in setting rates is an entirely different question.
